Photo Submission Terms and Conditions
It is very important to ensure that you have read and fully understand the terms and conditions for submitting a photo to Fantastic Trees.
First, you must certify that you are the owner with full rights to the images you submit, and that you give Fantastic Trees publications rights to your photo. Your photo may not be held up in other licenses or published in other settings that could infringe on copyright issues.
Published information from photo submissions include your first name, the tree’s location (city and state only unless it resides in a public area), the text you have submitted about the tree (type of tree, why it is fantastic, any poetry, stories or other blurbs you’ve submitted) and the images you have submitted.
Fantastic Trees may redistribute your photo in various other ways outside of its own website. This includes social media postings, flyer productions, emails contests, stickers, magnets and other print and digital material. These forms of redistribution may be for the purposes of community engagement, commercial (promotional material such as social media posts, digital ads, promotional print, etc.), social engagement and other general purposes.
Fantastic Trees reserves the right to edit photos and text submitted for any purpose; however, our practice is to edit these items for grammar and spelling correction, basic developmental editing, privacy protection, fact-checking and removing any controversial material.
Photos that you submit may be removed for any reason by Fantastic Trees. Once you submit a photo to Fantastic Trees, it becomes the permanent property of Fantastic Trees.
You must be at least 18 years or older to submit an entry.
Photos taken of private property, including private residences require a property release before your submission may be published. The release request will be sent to the property owner by Fantastic Trees. Note to property owners: in the event of property transfer, Fantastic Trees will not send another property release request and will default to continue maintaining given rights of the photo. If a new owner wishes to request a photo be removed, it is the responsibility of the new owner to contact Fantastic Trees (info@fantastictrees.com) to make this request. Fantastic Trees must have a way to verify the new owner is in fact who they claim to be before honoring such request.
Not all submissions are selected. A tree submission must truly be deemed Fantastic. However, don’t let this deter you from submitting a photo. Be clear on why you believe your submission is truly fantastic, whether it is because of the sheer magnificence of a tree, a tree’s sentimental value, a tree’s endurance, the inspiration the tree has given you, unique properties and characteristics of the tree, etc.
Artwork of trees may be accepted. If you have painted or rendered a Fantastic Tree, we will consider these submissions. It is best to provide more details about the artwork. And like image submissions, you must certify that you have rights to allow us to publish these photos.
In the event that someone wishes to license or buy a copy of your photo, you will be contacted by the email address you provided. Fantastic Trees reserves the right to request a finder’s commission in such event.
